Challenges
The main challenge was integrating two complex, separate systems: a smooth, modern shopping experience for users, and a feature-rich, secure admin portal for store management.
Solutions
I used Supabase for secure user authentication and as the back-end database, which was also key to building the comprehensive Admin Dashboard. For the front-end, I chose React/Vite for maximum speed and performance.
Results
Successfully launched a functional e-commerce platform that allows full product management (CRUD) for the admin and a minimal, smooth shopping experience for customers, complete with multiple payment gateway options (Stripe/Paystack testing).
Details
A store, plus the business behind it
Fasco is a full e-commerce platform. It's not just a storefront. I built the business logic a real shop needs: sales, inventory, and customer retention.
The admin dashboard
There's a protected admin panel that gives the owner full control. They can create products, update stock, and manage accounts. It also watches carts in real time, so the owner can see who added items but didn't check out and send them a targeted deal to win the sale back.
Payments, two ways
To handle a global audience I ran two gateways: Stripe for international cards, Paystack for local ones. An order only flips to "Paid" after the payment provider confirms it through a verified webhook, so no fake or unpaid order ever slips through.
Supabase doing the heavy lifting
Supabase handles data and security. Cart state, including totals, tax, and shipping, persists even if the user refreshes. Row-level security policies make sure a customer can only ever see their own orders, while an admin has full access, and that's enforced at the database rather than just in the UI.
