Introduction

A portfolio site I built for product designer Mayowa Falowo, with a custom loader, GSAP section transitions, and scroll-reactive typography, in Next.js and Tailwind CSS 4.

Challenges

The main challenge was reflecting Mayowa’s "visually-driven" design philosophy through code. This required building complex layout transitions and an "Initializing Experience" loader that feels like a high-end design studio.

04

Solutions

I implemented Next.js for the core structure and used GSAP to handle the sophisticated entry animations and "Clip-Path" effects. To ensure the design-heavy site stayed fast, I used Tailwind CSS 4 for lean styling and optimized the asset delivery.

Results

I delivered a portfolio that acts as a digital extension of the designer's brand—clean, modern, and highly interactive. The site features a work archive, an about section, and a seamless "Book a Call" integration.

A portfolio that had to feel like a studio

Building a portfolio for another designer is its own kind of pressure: the code has to live up to their eye. Mayowa Falowo is a product designer working on visionary digital experiences, and the brief was a site that read like a studio, not a personal page.

Motion as the first impression

I put a lot into the entry. There's a custom "Initializing Experience" loader that sets the tone the second the site opens. From there I used GSAP to move between the Work, Archive, and About sections without hard cuts, so it feels like one continuous space instead of separate pages.

Light under the weight

The site is visually heavy but stays fast. The Next.js App Router handles the Work, Archive, and About routes cleanly. The typography is large and bold, with parallax that reacts to scroll so the content feels alive instead of static. I pulled Mayowa's brand colours and logo, which I helped refine, into one consistent design system in Tailwind CSS 4.

The result turns a plain list of projects into something that actually represents how he works.

Testimonials

The attention to detail in the transitions and the overall flow of the site is incredible. It perfectly captures my design aesthetic.
